In an interview with Smartcherry TV, Manuel José Alcaíno expressed confidence that the situation that occurred last season will not be repeated and that Chilean exporters will not ship small sizes, which generated poor results last season.
However, he maintained that the low prices achieved in China have, in his opinion, led to the emergence of new consumers of the red fruit who could repeat the experience of consuming Chilean cherries this season.
On the other hand, these same low prices could encourage the market to decentralize and open up opportunities in other destinations, such as the United States and Europe, which are large consumers and familiar with the product, but always with the focus on optimizing arrival times at destination.
