Harvest and Orchard Update
“Over the past two weeks, we’ve harvested an excellent selection across the region: Santina, Cristallina, Skeena, Lapin, and our flagship Rainier cherries,” says Julie McLachlan of Global Fruit. The fruit is coming off the tree in very good condition, with good size and outstanding color and sugar development across all varieties.

Throughout the remainder of July, the company will continue working with Lapin, Skeena, Sweetheart, and the first Staccato cherries to supply air freight, ocean freight, and retail programs worldwide. The clear differentiation between production areas, combined with the maximum harvest volume, allows us to maintain consistent quality and size in every shipment, whether by air freight, sea container, or domestic retail distribution.

Weather forecast: ideal growing conditions
Conditions in the Okanagan and Creston growing regions are optimal for producing premium cherries. Warm daytime temperatures, combined with cool nights, promote the natural accumulation of sugars, resulting in a firm texture and intense color.

“These are ideal conditions for cherries, which bodes very well for our late-season varieties in the northern Okanagan and Creston Valley. We expect consistently high-quality fruit through the end of August,” says McLachlan.

Rainier: the final weeks of the season
Global Fruit’s Rainier cherries will continue to be available for approximately three more weeks, making them the last Rainier cherries in the Northern Hemisphere. For buyers whose customers seek these golden cherries with a hint of pink, this is a limited end-of-season window to secure premium Rainier volume. “Allocation is limited; if Rainier is part of your program, we recommend confirming your volume now.”

Availability and Programs
Global Fruit has just entered peak season, and strong availability is expected through the end of August. This gives customers ample time to plan volumes, secure allocations, and keep their programs stocked throughout the second half of summer. “Whether your program requires clamshells, bags, or bulk formats in sweet red or Rainier/Blush varieties, we have the fruit and packaging flexibility to meet your specifications.”
