Panjshir cherries are reaching global markets

Northeastern Afghanistan: In a recent development, Panjshir cherries have been introduced to international markets, with exports currently directed towards China, Pakistan, and India. The production of cherries in Panjshir has seen an upsurge this year, surpassing last year’s yield and indicating a fruitful season for producers aimed at expanding their export capabilities.

According to Qari Fazlullah Deoband, Panjshir’s head of agriculture, the orchards have produced 630 kilograms of cherries per unit this season, and the harvest period is still in progress. After the local distribution, these cherries are packaged for export, finding their way to markets in China, Pakistan, and India, thereby marking a significant step for Afghan produce in the global market.
