Cherry blossoms have burst into bloom across Japan, gracing iconic cities like Tokyo and Kyoto with their ethereal beauty. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that this year’s bloom arrived slightly later than usual, attributed to the cooler temperatures experienced throughout March.
In Tokyo, the renowned “Somei Yoshino” variety at Yasukuni Shrine heralded the arrival of spring, blooming five days later than the average and 15 days later than last year. Similarly, Kyoto welcomed its first cherry blossoms of the season, with the bloom occurring three days later than the usual timing, as confirmed by the local weather observatory.
Looking ahead, Weathernews Inc., a private weather service company, anticipates blossoms to adorn northeastern regions by early April and grace the northern main island of Hokkaido by late April.
As these delicate petals blanket the nation, locals and visitors alike are invited to revel in the timeless beauty of Japan’s cherished cherry blossom season.
