One of the traditional activities of cherry season in the state of Victoria, Australia, is going to the orchards and picking your own fresh cherries. This has become one of the favorite activities of families and visitors who know the growers and can delight in the delicious flavor of the fruit.

How and where to go? The Victorian Cherry Trail includes seven cherry orchards and businesses located in three cherry growing regions in Victoria: Yarra Valley & Ranges, Upper Goulburn Valley and Macedon Ranges.

Here are some recommendations given by the Victorian Cherry Association

a) Plan your visit

• Check availability of cherries with the business before you visit as supplies can be affected by weather conditions.
• Also check opening times as these may be affected by the availability of cherries and public holidays.
• Wear comfortable clothing such as flat closed toe shoes, a light shirt and hat and remember the sunscreen!

b) Seasonal availability

• The Victorian cherry season usually begins in the first or second week of November and continues until early February.
• Peak season is in the weeks leading up to Christmas, just in time for festive feasting!
