China: Two major Cherry events in Beijing this week

Smartcherry is in Beijing covering two major cherry industry events being held in the same place, at the same time: the 4th iFresh Cherry Expo from May 22 to 23, and the 9th International Cherry Symposium from May 21 to 25.

Beijing Guoce International Conference and Exhibition Center is receiving visitors from United States, Chile, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Spain, Romania, Turkey, Australia, Italy and more.

iFresh is co-sponsored by International Society of Horticulture and Cherry Branch of Chinese Society of Horticulture. It is undertaken by Shunyi District Government of Beijing and iFresh Fruit Association. It is gathering many domestic and foreign high-quality cherry brands, channel business and on-site technical exchange.

With 3,000 m2 exhibition area, 120 booths, 1,500 professional audience and 300 experts, they are discussing on cherry production, planting, processing and storage, distribution and sales.

iFresh Cherry Expo has faced a rapid development becoming in one of the leading trade exhibitions in the global cherry industry. Under the huge market demand of cherries, this expo has become an important platform for major domestic and foreign cherry companies to enter the Chinese market.

Cherry Symposium

The 9th International Cherry Symposium will be held concurrently with iFresh Cherry Expo. Held every four years, it is known as the โ€œOlympic gamesโ€ of the worldยดs cherry industry.

This symposium will not only show the rapid development of China’s cherry industry, but also provide a good opportunity and a platform for scientists, students, cherry farmers, and other people engaged in cherry scientific research and production to exchange and share the latest scientific and technological achievements, industrial information seeking international cooperation.

The symposium is organized by International Society for Horticultural Science, Chinese Society for Horticultural Science, and Beijing Municipal People’s Government, and supported by Beijing Academy of Agricultural & Forestry Sciences, Shunyi District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, Cherry Section, Chinese Society for Horticultural Science, and Beijing Gardening and Greening Bureau.

Shunyi District, where the events are being held, is located in Northeast of Beijing City, 30 km away from downtown. It’s the location of Capital International Airport, and one of important cherry production places in Beijing. Over 4,000 ha sweet cherry has been developed in Beijing suburban, which provide tourism and leisure mainly for the city residents.
