U.S. fresh fruit exports to Vietnam reach US$91 million in 2025

Vietnam remained the second-largest market for U.S. agricultural exports in 2025, with imports valued at US$4.7 billion. Rising incomes, population growth, and expanding food retail and processing sectors continue to support demand for imported fresh fruit.

Vietnam’s economy reached US$514.4 billion in 2025, with real GDP growth of 8.0 per cent. The country’s food processing industry grew to US$88 billion, while food retail sales totaled nearly US$72 billion and food service sales increased 15 per cent to US$32.2 billion. International visitor numbers also rose 25 per cent year on year.

Vietnam has a population of 101 million, the third largest in Southeast Asia. Traditional retail channels continue to dominate food sales, accounting for more than 83 per cent of food retail revenue in 2024. However, supermarkets expanded by 13 per cent and food e-commerce grew by 29 per cent in 2025, increasing opportunities for branded and traceable imported produce.

Fresh fruit remains one of the main opportunities for U.S. exporters. U.S. fresh fruit exports to Vietnam reached US$91.1 million in 2025, including apples valued at US$47.1 million, cherries at US$19.6 million, grapes at US$17.6 million, and other fresh fruit at US$1.7 million.

Market access has also expanded. On 16 March 2026, Vietnam approved imports of U.S. mandarins from California and Florida, with estimated export potential of US$5 million. In June 2025, Vietnam also approved imports of fresh California peaches and nectarines, with the annual market estimated at US$2.5 million.

During the final quarter of 2025, the U.S. was Vietnam’s second-largest supplier of fresh fruit, holding an 8.3 per cent market share behind China. The report notes that growing consumer demand, an expanding middle class, and the continued development of modern retail channels are supporting opportunities for U.S. fresh fruit exports.
