Valeria Lepe: “Each plot has its own needs, especially in a more restricted budget context”

The plant nutrition consultant participated in CherryTech 2025, as a member of the forum where the use and impact of calcium in cherry cultivation was discussed.

The agricultural engineer and academic mentioned that since calcium is such an important mineral for the quality of this fruit, it is necessary to balance this component, along with potassium, magnesium, and sodium, in soil analysis to achieve balanced management.

She also recommended that calcium be applied as at least 75% of the base sum when calculating the base sum, emphasizing that knowledge of the plots is vital to determining where to apply certain management strategies.
