STI successfully concludes cherry season with a 30% increase in transfers

San Antonio International Terminal (STI) dispatched the Maersk Yukon, the last cherry express. With this, the season officially comes to an end, as STI finishes with a positive balance in cherry exports, consolidating its position as the main departure port for these shipments.

During this season, STI mobilized a total of 15,300 reefer containers, of which 12,200 were exclusively for cherries, representing an increase of nearly 30% compared to the previous period. Additionally, the terminal handled 48% of the containers with cherries in the Valparaรญso region, reaffirming its leadership in the sector.

“This year, we took a significant step to solidify our position as the country’s leading exporter of cherry containers. The investments made in technology and advanced infrastructure allowed us to face a highly demanding season, ensuring an agile and quality service. This success would not have been possible without the commitment of our collaborators and the efficient management alongside shipping lines and transporters,” emphasized Andrรฉs Albertini, general manager of STI.

The Asian market, especially China, maintains a high demand during this period due to the celebrations of the Chinese New Year, where cherries are a symbol of good fortune and prosperity.
