Chile: The ship that will arrive with the first cherries to China sailed today

The ship Cautín (CAU), belonging to the Hapag-Lloyd shipping company, Hamburg, departed from the South Pacific Terminal of Valparaíso (TPS). Although it is the second shipment of cherries of the season, since the first left last Tuesday from the port of San Antonio, this vessel will be the first to arrive in China, as it is a Cherry Express service.

The Cautín arrived this Thursday morning at the port of Valparaíso, to begin its loading process, and its departure was coordinated at around 4:00 p.m. this Friday, to initially arrive in Hong Kong on December 10.

Last season the “Seaspan Brightness” was the first ship to arrive in Hong Kong. On that occasion, it arrived at its destination on December 8 with approximately 143 containers of cherries, equivalent to 2,580 tons, which included the varieties Royal Dawn (48%), Santina (38%), Glen Red (4%), and Frisco. (2%). From there the fruit was moved to the Guangzhou, Shanghai and Jiaxing wholesale markets.
