The agronomist and expert in the introduction and evaluation of new varieties spoke with Smartcherry about Santina’s attributes, whose firmness makes it suitable for entering domestic markets in China, unlike other early varieties.
He also recommended that producers focus on the post-harvest stage, which is not visible until the fruit reaches its destination. Therefore, these, along with firmness and sweetness, are key factors, and they should focus on a volume of no less than 8.5 tons per hectare for cultivation.
