This collaboration merges T&G’s decade of export experience with Sandher’s premium growth capabilities, with the goal of significantly expanding Canadian cherry exports to crucial Asian markets such as China, Vietnam, and Thailand.
As part of this agreement, T&G Global will assume sole responsibility for the sales and marketing of Sandher cherries, creating a fully integrated marketing model.
T&G has a strong track record in exporting cherries to Asia, serving markets such as Vietnam, Thailand, China, and Taiwan, with an average of more than 250,000 boxes (5 kg) exported annually.
Quality, Trust, and Competitive Advantage
Prab Sandher, President of Sandher Fruit Packers, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are excited to partner with T&G Global, a company we trust for its world-class export expertise and ability to consistently deliver the best prices to growers”. He added that the value of this collaboration lies not only in market access, but also in the shared commitment to quality and long-term relationships.
For his part, Nick Bright, Senior Category Manager at T&G Global, emphasized that this relationship goes beyond volume: “Itโs about delivering quality, trust, and long-term value to our customers across Asia”. T&G Global will represent Sandher globally for its exports and will collaborate with partners such as Oppy for sales and marketing support.
A key aspect of this alliance is the competitive advantage that Canadian origin offers in a volatile trade environment. Bright noted that, in the face of the impact of tariffs between the United States and China, “Canadian origin gives us a strong competitive advantage in accessing key markets such as China”. Sandher’s distribution strategy includes allocating 50% of its volume to exports, with China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand as key markets.
An Extended Season and Premium Production
T&G’s cherry supply program spans California (early May to early June) and Oregon (through the end of July), with the Canadian season extending from early July to the end of August. A differentiating factor for Sandher is the recent planting of new high-altitude orchards, which is expected to extend the Canadian season until mid-September 2027. This season extension could provide a significant advantage in late-season markets, allowing Sandher to offer premium cherries for a longer period.
“This season, we expect exceptional fruit: large size, intense color, and excellent firmness, delivered with precision and care”, added Prab Sandher, underscoring the commitment to a premium cherry program. Thanks to Sandher’s ability to comply with high-level protocols, such as the systems approach, T&G is confident in its ability to grow sustainably and deliver exceptional quality worldwide.
