Canadian Cherry Month Returns July 15 – August 15!

From July 15 to August 15, 2024.

The B.C. Cherry Association (BCCA) is gearing up for the second annual Canadian Cherry Month, from July 15 to August 15, 2024.

This year’s celebration promises exceptional quality cherries, with surviving crops expected to deliver outstanding flavor and juiciness.

“While January’s record cold temperatures certainly impacted some orchards, the full extent of the damage is still being assessed and we will only know the true potential of this crop after we get through blossom in the next few weeks,” says Sukhpaul Bal, president at the BCCA. “Despite these challenges, we’re confident that the trees that do produce fruit will yield exceptional cherries this summer.โ€

The BCCA emphasizes the importance of supporting Canadian farmers, particularly in light of recent difficulties Western producers face due to extreme weather events and wildfires.

This Canadian Cherry Month, the BCCA encourages:

Grocery retailers: Showcase Canadian cherries prominently in store, through advertising, and promotional campaigns.
Consumers: Make a conscious choice to buy Canadian cherries, support local agriculture, and enjoy the anticipated superb quality this season.
Canadians nationwide: Celebrate Canadian Cherry Month by sharing the love for these delicious fruits with family and friends. Encourage everyone to support Canadian agriculture by buying local, buying Canadian.
“Canadian Cherry Month is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work of our cherry growers and the potential for an outstanding cherry season,” says Bal. “By working together, we can ensure a successful season and further elevate the reputation of B.C. cherries.”

The BCCA invites all attendees of the upcoming Canadian Marketing Produce Association conference and tradeshow to learn more about Canadian Cherry Month and explore opportunities for collaboration.
