Australia’s cherry export industry witnessed a commendable surge in the 2023/2024 season, with a total export volume reaching 4,079 tonnes. While this figure did not surpass any previous records in terms of volume, it marks a significant 39.7% increase compared to the preceding season, indicating robust growth and resilience within the sector.
From October through mid-December 2023, Australian cherry exports experienced notable upticks, outperforming the export figures of the previous two years. However, towards the latter part of the year, there was a noticeable decline in export numbers, attributed to various seasonal and market dynamics. Despite this, the industry demonstrated resilience, with export figures stabilizing and showing promising signs of recovery by February.
The Australian cherry export sector remains a vital contributor to the country’s agricultural economy, offering high-quality produce to international markets and enhancing Australia’s reputation as a reliable supplier of premium fruits. The growth observed in the 2023/2024 season reflects the industry’s adaptability and ability to navigate challenges, positioning it well for continued success in the global marketplace.
